~thank you for supporting independent creativity~

John McCaskill of the Upper Larimer boutique/gallery MegaFauna got his start at Derailed Ink, a screen-printing business, and printed work — more specifically, exquisitely crafted band posters — is still one of his passions as a retailer. No surprise, then, that McCaskill has chosen to showcase posters and artists in the first of what he expects to be a yearlong, traveling series of It’s a MF Art Show exhibitions featuring different aspects of MegaFauna’s creative stock.

– Art for the people: MegaFauna comes to roost at the Meadowlark
|Christopher Shaw, Whiskeyfoot Prints.|
“The goal of these shows is to open the public’s opinion of art to include more than just visual arts; accessories, apparel, design, music, performance pieces all encompass the range we embrace as ‘art’ at MegaFauna,” McCaskill says. “We hope this brings more awareness toward art and, of course, helps garner support for independent creatives everywhere.”
A dozen local artists, including both new and established faces, will offer unique and affordable graphics representing local and global acts alike. The show kicks off with a party from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, January 10 at MegaFauna and the adjacent Meadowlark; food, drink and music will be part of the package. Posters will then remain on view at both locations through the month of January.

See you there…and then
They say that the purpose of art is to invoke an emotional response. If this is the case, it takes a special type of art to invoke a melee. This past July Mike McGinley approached me about hanging an impromptu show featuring his latest and greatest pop and flash art etched on glass. No promotion, no advanced notice. Within two days every piece was purchased. The mob reached such a frenzy at one point, I was up a ladder trying to hang a piece and customers were bidding and buying before the piece could get properly leveled. Such has been my experience with Mike McGinley and his art etched on window and glass panes.
December 7 at Meadowlark & MegaFauna, Mike McGinley aims to add to a new and fun-filled show presenting one-of-a-kind pop-art etched on glass with, “Keep it Glassy”.
Mike will be presenting all original interpretations of pop influenced imagery and his own creations of flash and street culture, just above the curb. Each piece will be displayed on resourced and upcycled window pane and modified doors with glass installations. Each sized properly to fit a large wall as a series OR individually for the downtown or loft crowd. There are some surprises in play for the show, including LED retro-fitted and back-lit pieces.
Boulder-based Evo Hemp of Hemp Health, Inc., will be in attendance passing health-filled hemp bar samples and cool schwag. DJ Viking Sound Machine will be in the house pushing beats and other audible treats. J Audrey Hair Studio will be offering discount cards for their in-house hair studio. As always the MF Cafe will be selling locally roasted Novo Coffee, Rocky Mountain Sodas, sandwiches by local deli’s and Mom’s famous baked treats.
Keep it Glassy 6 PM-10PM at MegaFauna and continue Keeping it Glassy until midnight in Meadowlark at 2701 Larimer in the North Larimer neighborhood of Greater Five Points.

Local Coffee, Neighborhood Flavor, Conscious Fare
MegaFauna has opened it’s walls and love for the local to a new curated cafe. Located at 2701 Larimer St (just above the Meadowlark, on the corner of 27th and Larimer). The MF Cafe will feature a new local coffee each month along with consciously curated selections of Colorado’s best on-the-go snacks, baked goods, sandwiches and occasional farmers markets.
Fun things to expect from the MF Cafe are delicious hot coffee & a cold mate bar, Evo Hemp Bars & Rocky Mountain Sodas, sandwiches provided by a local deli, late night / walk up window service for bar goers, and monthly events to sample the new brews; featuring local singer & songwriter acts.
“We were really aiming for the sweet spot on service with this concept,” says MegaFauna Manager and in-house Barista, Rae Mc, “…Not too many selections that our guests were slowed down, but enough that their appetite was satiated and their beverage needs were properly met; without charging ridiculous prices. We didn’t want to become another one of those places that charges $4 for a cup of coffee you had to pour yourself. Instead we charge half that, give the access to the guest and let them decide if they want to hangout or be on their way.”
As far as future plans for the store, Rae states, “We really are focused on nailing down the basics of this concept first, get the neighborhood what they have been asking for, in terms of basics, then there are plans for patio seating and dressing things up later. We want to continue to provide the North Larimer and Greater Five Points area being the space for locally curated space for art, apparel, products and services.”
MF Cafe is OPEN DAILY 10AM to 9PM
Late Night / Walk Up Service Monday, Thursday-Saturday 9PM to bar close!
